Little Meanings is a small jewelry brand for the people who put thought into the things they wear — and the gifts they give. Every piece is named for the feeling it carries, and every piece arrives with a card so the meaning travels with it.

The friend who always knew the right gift

Little Meanings was started by Nora Posner in 2022, out of a small studio in Hudson, New York.

Nora had a habit, going back to her twenties. Whenever a friend was going through something — a breakup, a new baby, a lost parent, a big move, a hard year — she'd find a small symbol that fit. A tiny anchor for the friend who needed steadying. A butterfly for the one starting over. A tree of life for the one holding the family together. She'd write one line on a card and tuck the necklace inside.

Friends started asking for them for their friends. Then strangers heard about it. By 2022, there were too many requests to keep up with one-at-a-time. So Nora turned the habit into a small brand.

Every Little Meanings necklace is still the same idea: a dainty, daily-wear pendant chosen for its meaning, paired with a card that says what's hard to say out loud, in a soft cream pouch ready to give. The card was the whole point from the beginning. It still is.

What we believe

The best gifts aren't the most expensive. They're the ones that mean something — the small symbol worn close, the card kept in a drawer for years, the gesture that landed.

We believe in saying things out loud. And when we can't, we believe in wearing them.

We believe a meaningful object can hold an intention longer than a New Year's resolution. It can mark a turning point. It can carry someone you love with you, even when they're not in the room.

We believe the people who give thought to what they give are the people who change the texture of someone's whole week.

Every necklace at Little Meanings falls into one of four meaning collections — so you can shop by what you (or she) need to hear:

Strength — crosses, angel wings, anchors, keys. For the resilient ones, the steady ones, the ones holding the family together.

Little Meanings is run by a team you can count on one hand. We hand-pack every order from our Hudson studio. We answer every customer email ourselves, usually within a day. We write the meaning cards. We choose the symbols.

We're not a factory drop-shipping whatever's in stock — we're a small brand that cares about what's on the card, what's in the pouch, and who it's going to.
